Slow-selfie

Doorframe height markings can be found etched in the doorways of many family homes, quietly tracing our growth and connecting us to the past. Slow-selfie is a self-portrait in slow motion, capturing my yearly height measurements alongside those of my older siblings.
It merges the tradition of marking height on a doorframe with the fast-paced, fleeting nature of a selfie – only here, the image unfolds gradually, year by year. Through this slowed-down perspective, the work evokes a sense of passing time, continuity, and a reflection of our quiet, shared domestic history.
Similarly, the visible rings of a tree within the fragmented doorpost pieces mirror these markings, as they, too, relate to the passage of time.
