modeling clay imprints, 2023

Heritage

I began collecting modeling clay imprints in the autumn of 2023. These relief marks are taken from everyday household objects: remotes, chargers, lamps, dishes, bowls, mugs, vases, chairs, desks, cupboards, windowsills, doorframes, basins, handles, house facades, stairs, and other surrounding surfaces.

The imprints become graphic matrices – starting points from which new forms could emerge, even restoring the originals if a replacement is needed. Fragmented and delicate, these traces capture the presence of the everyday, echoing surrounding memories that – like the objects themselves – gradually break apart and fade over time. In their quiet tactile way, they tell a story of what it means to have a home.
