Club Penguin.exe

Club Penguin.exe is aimed at a narrow viewer – those who remember the early internet era of Club Penguin. It was a virtual world game popular in the mid–late 2000s and early 2010s. I remember not even having an email then, and asking a friend to register me.

The work doesn’t take itself too seriously; it refers to a now-frozen moment of early online social spaces and chat communities that once felt open and expanding. The game no longer exists – the company shut it down – leaving it unrecognizable to younger generations, and distant from those who didn’t grow up with it.

Frozen in time, it exists only for those who remember it. To those who recognize it – hey there, my dear.
